BUas
The fieldtrip is a means to join forces and infuse the know-how the Imagineers have gathered to different cultures and backgrounds, making it very inspirational for both partners. During the fieldtrip the power of a narrative (imaginative) approach in complex circumstances is explored, while networking in the host country. During the many visits to organisations, businesses, institutions, universities the culture and nature are explored while working on a practical design assignment.

The Fieldwork
Designing, organising and supervising fieldtrips to Cape Town (2016, 2018), Pretoria (2016), Durban (2018), Iceland (2019) with international master students and executive master business innovation students (from among others: Brazil, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kenya, Lithuania, Mexico, Netherlands, Netherlands Antilles, Taiwan). Visiting corporations, universities, non-profit organisations, NGO’s, local leaders, while applying the imagineering design approach to co-create new realities with the different stakeholders.
The Deliverables
After having explored the imagineering design process in a micro commercial context, the objective of the practical design assignment was to explore the whole design process on a meso/macro societal context in culturally sensitive and inspiring environments. The aim of the project was to design a narrative ‘lens’/an imaginative ‘artefact’ for the theme of the fieldtrip by interviewing people, visiting places and organisations and developing a concept. Various appealing creative concepts were developed by the students.
