NADB & NOC*NSF
During the summer of 2024, sports and culture met on the world's largest stage: The Olympics in Paris. Dance was part of the Olympics for the first time in history. On Wednesday, December 11, 2019, Collabros organised an initial exploration of the road to the Olympic Games in 2024. All parties involved were present: CTOs, sports federations, dance crews, funding organisations, government and sponsors gathered to share their expertise and work together to capitalize on the golden opportunity. Collabros continued in 2021 with qualitative research among community members and board members of sports federations to design The Road to Breaking in Paris 2024. From there a plan was devised to build the flagship for breaking.

The Ask
How can the NADB, NOC*NSF and TeamNL centers work with the breaking community to build a flagship that will dock in paris in the summer of 2024 for the summer olympics?

The Fieldwork
The research was cross-sectional and qualitative in nature. The method used to select respondents was purposeful sampling. Persons and organisations were selected on the basis of their involvement in breaking in the netherlands. Reliability and competence of the respondents were prior selection criteria. The goal was to ultimately reach 25 respondents. During the interviews (approx. 30-60 minutes), open questions were asked, which provided ample insights.

The Deliverables

Firstly, organising a gathering of all stakeholders, creating the opportunity for knowledge-sharing and informal interaction. secondly, carrying out exploratory research among a select group involving TeamNL Metropolis and TeamNL Zuid, the NADB, and the breaking community consisting of dancers, trainers, organisers and OG’s. thirdly, providing NADB and NOC*NSF with the tools to determine who will be sent to the qualifying competitions for the 2024 in Paris on behalf of the Netherlands, and guidance into setting up an infrastructure through which success could be achieved.
